Jyväskylä is a city of about 150,000 inhabitants in the middle of the most beautiful Finland. The city is known for its wide range of culture, sports and events.

 

Jyväskylä is located in the province of Central Finland and is located in the middle of the most beautiful Lake Finland. Jyväskylä and the whole of Central Finland is known especially for its nature, culture and sauna experiences. The central location of the area is suitable for a holiday trip, as you can travel to the area by train from Helsinki in about three hours, the drive takes the same amount, and the flight takes less than an hour.

 

From Helsinki, the area can easily be reached by the E75 via Lahti or the E12 via Tampere and Jämsä. If you want to enjoy particularly wonderful scenery during the drive, you should head to the area via a slightly slower route from Lahti via Pulkkilanharju.

 

 

Arrival by train and plane

If you fly to Helsinki, you can easily get to Jyväskylä by train directly from the airport with a connecting connection with one change.

 

Finnair flies from Helsinki to Jyväskylä. The journey takes less than an hour. Jyväskylä airport is located in Tikkakoski, from where you can quickly get to the center of Jyväskylä, a distance of 23 kilometers, for example by buses or taxis passing through the airport.

Arrival by bus

Jyväskylä is easily accessible by direct bus connections from many cities in Finland, such as Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Kuopio and Oulu. Long-distance buses arrive at Jyväskylä Matkakeskus Travel Centre, which is located right next to the centre of Jyväskylä. 

The easiest way to find bus tickets and timetables is on the Matkahuolto website. The low-budget bus company Onnibus also operates to Jyväskylä. See Onnibus timetables and fares here. 

It is also possible to travel to Jyväskylä by bus from Jyväskylä Region with Flixbus. Flixbus routes from Hamburg to Joensuu and from Krakow to Rovaniemi stop in Jyväskylä. 

Arrival by car

The distance from the capital region is not long, and the journey from Helsinki to the area can easily be made by car on the E75 via Lahti or the E12 via Tampere and Jämsä. There are many companies for car rental in Jyväskylä. In the center of Jyväskylä you can find, for example, Hertz. Avis car rental can be found not only in the center of Jyväskylä but also at Jyväskylä Airport in Tikkakoski. Located along Nelostie, Europcar is only 2 kilometers from the center of Jyväskylä.
